“Engaging Wild Urban Green is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Their knowledge of plants is extensive and their design skills are flexible and considered. They are great listeners and easy communicators which made the whole design and build process a genuine collaborative and happy exchange of ideas. My unruly garden is now a space that's easy to maintain, functional, visually intriguing, and engages me every day.”

Inner City Sanctuary

Our brief was to create a lush, beautiful outdoor sanctuary that feels calming, restorative, and nurturing.

Wild Urban Green’s approach to this space and project included two important elements:

  • Our design allows for different experiences - an open deck space surrounded by garden for entertaining friends and family, a hidden pocket of retreat along the fence for reading and relaxing, and a beautiful vista for our client to enjoy as they look out from their kitchen window

  • Re-using materials salvaged by our client:

    • Round concrete pavers, for entrance points and to form the meandering trail

    • Hexagonal tiles, now under pots on the deck

    • Old decking timber, made into new bench seats

    • Bluestone, used to make a walled garden bed

    • Existing sleepers, used to rebuild a vegetable bed

Our biggest project so far, this work and our client were a delight. Hardscaping elements, including a beautiful deck and paving work by Phil Mullett from Broadleaf, are accompanied by an eclectic mix of native and exotic plant treasures. Salvaged materials fold into the landscape. One year on, the results speak for themselves…
